November 14, 2015Matt Leave a comment

For the original setup see here and here Well, my original antenna that I mentioned buying in those posts blew off in the storm I sailed through the other week. Honestly, it was TERRIBLE and I was getting pretty awful performance… Continue reading →

One of the things I had been meaning to do for ages but hadn’t actually done, was unplug the drains on the side deck. You can’t see it in the photo here but this is actually under an inch of… Continue reading →

Return From Orcas

November 4, 2015Matt 7 Comments

Come Sunday I was pretty exhausted. Not from the two parties I went to on the weekend (they didn’t help) but also the fact that the boast was tied up to a daydock that could be described as ‘decrepit’, if… Continue reading →

First of all – still no pictures. My phone, after lasting two weeks with no back or power button (leading to me having to jam a fork in the side every time I wanted to turn it on) has finally… Continue reading →

I think I used this title before maybe? I’m not sure. It’s been over 230 blog posts(!) so it’s kind of hard to keep track. Anyway, I’ve now done SEVEN out of ten portholes. Hooray. Unfortuntly I don’t think I… Continue reading →

October 12, 2015Matt 8 Comments

I ordered a bunch of shit off of www.sailrite.com in order to make some new curtains – my V Berth and head don’t have any. This wasn’t a problem before, as the portholes were covered in enough scratches, UV damage… Continue reading →

End of Summer

October 5, 2015Matt Leave a comment

Well, its definitely Autumn. The nights are noticeably cooler, it rained a bunch, and there seems to be a billion mosquitoes. I straight up kill 3 or 4 a night, leaving their mushed corpses as a warning to the others, but… Continue reading →

Panama Canal Part 2 Panama Canal Part 2
A couple of weeks ago I made it through the Panama A couple of weeks ago I made it through the Panama Canal, which was a pretty crazy 17 hour day. There are 6 locks in total, divided into 3 groups - 3 locks are at the start, then you end up driving through a manmade channel for miles, before emerging into a manmade lake.

The whole day was so full of huge ships and challenging situations but the feeling of emerging into a NEW OCEAN on the other side is pretty unbelievable

Made to Panama City, my last stop in the Pacific f Made to Panama City, my last stop in the Pacific for quite some time. Last 100 miles were upwind against heavy current but it was ok, even the fearsome Punta Mala was tame. By far the scariest bit was threading my way through the shipping anchorage outside the canal, the traffic was very active and a couple of times I had to get out the way sharpish

Next, the canal!
