September 16, 2015Matt Leave a comment

One of the things that came up in the high winds sailing was that it was still a bit difficult to furl the foresail in high winds. This was because of my numourous attempts to rig something using any spare… Continue reading →

Hebridean Wind Vane

September 10, 2015Matt 8 Comments

One of the things I need is some kind of self steering, so I don’t have to sit at the wheel for hours on end. There are two main types – an electric autopilot that connects to your chartplotter and… Continue reading →

Last 100 miles were upwind against heavy current but it was ok, even the fearsome Punta Mala was tame. By far the scariest bit was threading my way through the shipping anchorage outside the canal, the traffic was very active and a couple of times I had to get out the way sharpish

The hardest parts are yet to come but after two and a half years, I'm homeward bound.
