Mazatlan and Isla Isabel

February 24, 2019Matt 2 Comments

After arriving in Mazatlan I spent a couple of days in the marina, refueling, getting supplies and waiting for Emma to arrive. She arrived and we tried to leave to head to Isla Isabel (100nm to the south) – only… Continue reading →

Crossing the Gulf of California

February 6, 2019Matt 9 Comments

As mentioned in my last post, I was crossing the Gulf of California to Mazatlan, a ~200nm crossing. Looking at the winds I had guessed around 2 days and it was pretty much bang on, with me arriving into Mazatlan… Continue reading →

December 12, 2018Matt 7 Comments

I’ve spent the last couple of weeks in the La Paz area, just hanging out and resting, with the odd (as little as possible) boat stuff. Here are some of the highlights: Liz hung around for a couple of days… Continue reading →

San Juan Del Cabo, MX to La Paz, MX

December 2, 2018Matt 5 Comments

The marina at San Juan Del Cabo was really expensive, so we hustled all day to get all our shopping/chores done so we could get away with spending one night there (unfortunately this left no time for washing the boat).… Continue reading →

Santa Maria Bay, MX to San Juan del Cabo, MX

November 26, 2018Matt 4 Comments

After arriving in Santa Maria Bay after a terrible passage, we were soaked after two nights of taking waves in the face and exhausted after no sleep. We had a lay day so Liz tidied up a bit while I… Continue reading →

Last 100 miles were upwind against heavy current but it was ok, even the fearsome Punta Mala was tame. By far the scariest bit was threading my way through the shipping anchorage outside the canal, the traffic was very active and a couple of times I had to get out the way sharpish

Next, the canal!

The hardest parts are yet to come but after two and a half years, I'm homeward bound.
