This morning I rounded Punta Mariato, the furthest This morning I rounded Punta Mariato, the furthest south I'll be on this trip. From now on, every mile will take me back to BC (sometimes somewhat obliquely and via two oceans, the NWP and the canal but still!)

The hardest parts are yet to come but after two and a half years,  I'm homeward bound.

Goodbye Costa Rica, from helping a local get a gia Goodbye Costa Rica, from helping a local get a giant iguana out of their pool to marlins launching themselves out of the water, the wildlife and the people did not disappoint. What a lovely place!

Bird fight! Brown Boobies (pic 4) are medium sized Bird fight! Brown Boobies (pic 4) are medium sized marine birds that are very adapt at catching fish (I've seen them snatch flying fish out the air) while Magnificent Frigatebirds (pic 5) (yes that is their actual name) are a lot bigger and seem to not as good at catching food. I've seen them do it, but mostly they prefer to bully smaller birds, which is what is happening here. The booby caught a small fish, the Frigate saw and immediately started bullying it to try to snatch it's prize. 

The fish was dropped but the squawking continued for quite a while after I left.
