Now the boat is in Fisherman’s Wharf, I’ve had to think exactly what steps I needed to take to get her ready to live on.

The first thing I decided was to remove as much stuff as I could from the inside, including cushions, spare fenders, tools and various things. Once that is done, I’m going to scrub absolutely every part of the inside I can reach.

I’ve pulled out a huge range of stuff so far, meaning my garage looks like this

Still a lot of stuff remaining to remove.

Today I also bought 4 more fenders and rope to go with them, as well as two wooden plugs I can use if a thru-hull fails. Hopefully, I’ll never have to use them.

My current task list looks like

– Remove everything possible from boat

– Clean everywhere that I can reach

– Redo all plumbing with new hoses and clean water tanks

– Check and redo wiring

– Install new toilet

– Chose, purchase and install heating

And that’s just for starters. Lots of work! At some point I have to redo some gel-coat, install radar/depth sounder/AIS/fishfinder/windless/down rigger and check all the rigging. I’m trying not to get overwhelmed.

Also today I met my neighbour – I can’t remember his name but he’s about my age and has lived there 2 years with his wife, and seemed really nice.
