Children will sing, bells will ring and somewhere there is a very confused pig spreading his new wings.

I finally caught a salmon. A chinook at that!

DAYS LATER EDIT: APPARENTLY IT WAS A PINK. I SUCK AT SALMON ID. Which turns it from a small chinook to a fair sized pink. Progress!

The day after I got back from my trip, I woke up in the morning and decided to go fishing. Wrangling Emma along (again) and off we went.

Where I lost two more fish. At this point I was ready to throw the rod and myself overboard (after ceremoniously setting fire to the boat)

Finally, after a while with no more hits, I sadly started to reel in the line and the downrigger…. and then felt some weight on the line. ‘I think there is a fish on here!’

And there was. And it didn’t get away. AND it was a massive 7 cm above the minimum size, so we got to keep it and have dinner! (not before a frantic 5 mins of googling to figure out what type of salmon it was, and what the size limit in the area was). Thanks accidental fish!
